
The Australian Institute of Karate is a professionally designed full time Martial Arts training centre with flexible hours and class times to suit your busy lifestyle.


The fit out has been specifically designed for Martial Arts training and comprises of a sprung timber hardwood floor, Olympic quality break-falling mats, 9 meters of mirrored wall, industrial fans, Wavemaster and punching bags in addition to traditional training weights and traditional striking posts (makiwara).
There is an enclosed viewing area for parents and interested parties plus change-room and toilet facilities.
The highest standards have been imposed and the equipment meets all international standards.
The Institute serves as the Australian Headquarters (Honbu Dojo) for the International Chito-Ryu Karate-Do Federation.
Our Instructors
The Institute's founder and Principal is Michael (Mike) Noonan a direct student of Tsuyoshi Chitose II, Supreme Instructor of Chito-Ryu Karate-Do and son of Okinawin Karate legend Dr. Tsuyoshi Chitose. Dr. Chitose was one of the Karate Masters responsible for bringing Karate to mainland Japan from Okinawa.

Mike has achieved the rank of 6th Degree Black Belt and the title of Renshi (Master Teacher). He has made over 30 visits to Japan for training and also competed internationally. Mike is the Australian Chief Instructor for The International Chito-Ryu Karate Federation and regularly teaches senior Black Belts throughout Australia.


Shane Ker is a 3rd Degree Black Belt and a NSW coach, he is an internationally qualified Instructor and serves as a part-time Instructor at the Institute.
